Clifford Murphy  Fabulous artist, Every painting tells a story

I claim a near miss with ‘Mumps Bridge’ at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition some years ago. It got the thumbs up from the selection judges, but not from the hanging committee.

I am pleased to report that the oil painting ‘DAISY NOOK FAIR’ (my variation on a theme by L.S. Lowry) was selected for the 2013 Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.

I hope that what I do is accessible and entertaining. Ostensibly, there may not be anything too dramatic in what you see. But every picture tells a story, so if you delve into people and places, there is comedy and tragedy in volumes.

This original painting was purchased as an 83rd birthday gift for the late Eric Sykes C.B.E.

Paintings of mine, ‘THE BEAUTIFUL GAME’ and ‘MUMPS BRIDGE’ have been purchased for the town’s permanent collection, following Gallery Oldham open exhibitions. I have been awarded prizes in competitions featured in ‘The Artist’ magazine, and I am a regular exhibitor and prizes have been won at ‘The Artist’ Patchings Festival.
